Bloody fights or fighting for position will be avoided if you prepare the dog for life with an animal of another species. Dog behavior specialist Eliise Malmis teaches how to do this.
In the case of a cat, different aspects come into play. If the dog is already older and has not tolerated cats before, then it must be taken into account that it will take weeks if not more for them to get used to each other, and in the worst case it will be too stressful for both.
If the cat itself is used to dogs and does not react, the process can go more smoothly. Also if it's a kitten, because they probably don't have any negative contact with dogs. In the case of a dog, its previous trainability and how good the contact it has with you as the owner also play a big role.
