Visiting the vet is a part of every pet ownership. Therefore, it is important that the dog is used to being in the same room with strangers and being touched. Unfortunately, many activities are not natural for dogs, and therefore a visit to the doctor may turn out to be more difficult than expected. Dog behavior specialist Eliise Malmis teaches how to prevent or solve problems.
Depending on whether the dog owner adopted the dog as a puppy or as an adult, dogs need different preparation. If the dog is adopted as a puppy, the circumstances are a little easier, because the owner has the opportunity to train the puppy with the given activities right from a small age. An adult dog who has not been trained before and who is not very docile himself sometimes needs more training or a special approach.
To begin with, you could train the dog to stay with you in smaller rooms. Even eating, playing or looking for treats in the room can create a positive relationship in a small space.
